এই নশ্বর পৃথিবী ছেড়ে যেতে হয়, জীবিতরা চেয়ে থাকে নির্নিমেষ,
সংবাদের পুনরাবৃত্তি হয়, দুর্দান্ত ইতিহাস, কোথায় উপনিবেশ?
সাম্রাজ্য, অর্থ, বিত্ত, ক্ষমতা! সম্মানের পাদদেশে চেয়ে থাকে অনিমেষ;
সম্রাজ্ঞীর শেষকৃত্যে স্তূপীকৃত বেদনার পাশে, স্মৃতি আর বিস্মৃতির দ্বন্দ্ব অশেষ,
