The poem started
When you thought I was not looking.
We talked, we danced, we kissed
Throughout the moon-drenched night;
we saw many couples enjoying
In the beach like children.
And I found an unasked
Desperation within your eyes,
Twinkling like the last numb ray
From the distant lighthouse.
I did not know why you
Came back leaving your fortune
Behind faintly so,
I did not ask,
But we embraced tight
As if those old days were back
After millions and millions of
Waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
We drank that night with champagne
Making the sea-waves jealous of us,
Our love was vaster than the ocean,
But a tender touch would break it
Silently you spoke of the past,
The past I used to avoid.
And when the sun shone
You decided to leave me again;
Without a single glance you left,
And that very moment-
When you thought I was not looking,
I became a poet!
I got my awaited answer,
I read it in your eyes-
Some realities are like dreams.
