সেই প্রস্তর যুগ থেকে
পাহাড়ের গায়ের পাথর কাটতে কাটতে
অনুভব করি তোমার নরম শরীরের উষ্ণতা-
এরই ফাঁকে কত বসন্ত এলো গেলো
কত ফুল ফুটে গেল ঝরে-
ডেকে ডেকে অবসন্ন কোকিল।
কোন দিকে হঁশ নেই আমার
তোমার অঙ্গের যত মণিমুক্তো
সাত সমুদ্রের তলা থেকে
সাবধানে কুড়িয়েই চলেছি
দক্ষ ডুবুরির মত।

As if from the Stone Age
I engaged myself to engrave your figure
in a mountain rock.
And in the process I felt the softness of your body
and the warmth of you.
I did not notice how many springs passed by,
and how many flowers bloomed and shed away.
I did not even listen the singing of the birds
and when they paused.
I only engrossed in picking the gems and jewels
of your body from the extreme depth of seven seas
like a adroit diver
