Official Review by Realistic Poetry....
"The potent and influential poetry book, “Epic of Time”, by Sandip Goswami, India, was a poetry book full of life and cultural diversity! Right off the back, we noticed the author dedicated the book to his son, Souhardya Goswami, which we found to be exceedingly noble and dignified and as we continued to delve further into the pages of this book, we learn about Goswami’s perspective concerning many fundamental themes pertaining to sanctity, mysticism, and mortal, earthly life. One becomes instantaneously absorbed in an entrancing world of meditative theoretical principles, introspective deep-thinking metaphysics, intellectual science, and transcendent religious virtues.

Through the sagacious words of the author, a burning, enthused, passionate message concerning poetry, love, society, and politics in India, is tangled with zealous poetic stanzas, expressions from Goswami’s heart and soul. Not only does he write about the spiritual aspects of life, he also embedded his very spirit within the divine verses in this book! One of our favored poems in this notable collection was a wonderfully scribed, evanescent tale about a man and a woman in the poem entitled, “Love Story”. The originality and modesty of Goswami is humbly exposed as he elucidates a captivating poetry-tale about two individuals (man & woman) who fatefully crossed paths, coming from two completely different worlds. In reality, their soul’s poles apart, yet they still develop an attraction for one another, having faith in what they envision as the open crystal windows to love. This poem is a classic and timeless piece that tastefully mimics the true reality of many relationships from all over the world, purely because it captures the core essence of love, fortuitous chance, and characterizes the fact that often times, in newfangled romances, opposites do and can attract, but also poses the question, how long love will last.

In this story, two people from different backgrounds believed they would find in each other what they longed and hoped for, all the while, struggling with the truth of losing themselves as they attempt to accept one another’s obvious differences. Goswami did a superb job at highlighting this scenario to the reader in a gentle, yet extremely effective manner. There is a beautiful melancholy tone implemented and portrayed in this piece and this poem mirrors the prominence of time and its great significance to the maturity and growth of a true relationship.

Moreover, in this book, there is a profound spiritual sense of enlightment portrayed in the author’s work, in which he boldly epitomizes his own spirituality and belief while also expressing the relevancy of science when it comes to understanding and attaining ultimate knowledge. In fact, the first poem we read, entitled, “Science and Religion”, proficiently demonstrates how both science and religion are underlining principles to understanding the full capacity of humanity and life. Goswami irradiates and fluently supports his idea by clearly expressing how religion helps love flourish, while also teaching peace and a sincere compassion for humanity. We love and admire the fact that Goswami digs deep within the heart into the depths of the soul to poetically illuminate his wise and prudent perspective. He presents an unpretentious concern for ancient history and also for the unknown future and we must say that as activists and advocates for a more better tomorrow, we respect Goswami’s viewpoint! He cleverly compares and contrasts the similarities between science and religion, two very controversial subjects and explains why they are both critical to growth in spirit and mind!

Transitioning, Goswami celebrates the memory of Mother Teresa in his poem entitled, “Mother Teresa and I”, a sincere and personal tribute crafted with distinguished love and substance! In reading this poem, one could nearly imagine being in the shoes of the character as he elaborates on an experience that many of us could only wish to encounter in our lifetime! Goswami shares his own personal account of the day he was actually able to meet Mother Teresa in real-life! He perfectly details the experience with heartfelt recollections as he gleefully reminisces of the day she was with him, eating with the people and verbalizing prominent, life-changing words. He paints the scene so well that one could even catch a slight glimpse of sadness within the words of this particular poem, as he expressed how much he misses her very presence, followed by an informative subdivision of facts and information that educates the reader on who Mother Teresa was, what she did, and why she is still very relevant to our world today.

Goswami’s style of writing influences and embraces a rich philosophical flair with a dose of penetrating logic and morality. His poetry securely defines him as an individual and provides an abstract rainbow of colorful subjects, each a different brilliant color radiating in their own unique aura of life. Some poems, the color of passionate red, such as, “Blood Group”, while other poems, such as, “The Students into Terrorism”, glow the despondent hue of blue, expressing an incurable pain about the internal and external suffering of the students who live in Peshawar, a place of mental torture and terrorism where politics reign as the main destroyer. This poem was overwhelmingly heartbreaking and caused a series of questions to stream through the mind, like why? How? Who? The poem in itself, dressed in truth, and expressed with honesty, nonetheless disheartening.

Overall, Goswami is a talented, intelligent, and spiritual poet who isn’t afraid to express some of his most intimate truths in his own personal life. His poetry can open up the eyes of many that are accustomed to mere entertainment, stimulating thoughts and activating the mind to think deeper and further. Hands down, one will be sure to grow and learn many new things upon reading the poems in this amazing book collection!"
