ভালোবাসার প্রথম পংক্তি (রোমিও - জুলিয়েট )

রোমিও: যদি এই অপর্যাপ্ত নশ্বর হাতে মোর, যা অকিঞ্চিৎকর, বোধ হয়
এই পবিত্র আরাধনার স্থানে, মৃদুতম পাপ যা সেথা , হয়তো শুধু এই
ওষ্ঠ মোর , ব্রীড়াবনত তীর্থযাত্রী দ্বয় , স্থিতিতে সেথা
যেথা মসৃন করে সেই অসমতল খাঁজ , একটি মৃদু চুম্বন।

জুলিয়েট:
তীর্থযাত্রী সফেদ সখা হৃদ, হস্ত মাঝে সেথা বিশদে স্খলন , বোধে, বড় বেশী
যা সুস্থিত ঈশ্বরে, আস্তিকতাবাদ , আরাধ্য নিরাকারে , ফুটে ওঠে ,অনির্বচনীয়তায়  
কারণ সাধকগনে আছে হাত , যেমন তীর্থযাত্রীদের হাতগুলো স্পর্শ করে, বোধে
করতল আর করতলে আছে পবিত্র তীর্থযাত্রীর চুম্বন।

রোমিও : সাধকগনে ওষ্ঠে কি চুমেনি, আর সেইসাথে তীর্থযাত্রীগণও , ওষ্ঠে সেথা?
জুলিয়েট: হে তীর্থযাত্রী মোর, ওষ্ঠদ্বয় , যা তাদের অবশ্য পালনীয় অনুষঙ্গ, প্রার্থনায়।  

রোমিও : আহা , তবে, প্রিয় সাধক সুহৃদ , ওষ্ঠে দেহ ঘটনায় তাহা, তাই যা হাতে ঘটে থাকে বিধাতায়।
তারা সাধনায় ধ্যানস্থ হয়, মনোনিবেশ করে আরাধ্যে আর , পাছে আস্তিকতা হুতাশনে ধায়।

জুলিয়েট : সাধকে সুস্থিতিতে মগ্ন সেথা, যদিও বা , আশা দেয়, হয় বুঝি সাধনায়।

রোমিও: তাহলে উপলক্ষ্যকাল, অবিনশ্বর হৃদয়, স্থিত হও, একান্তে, আর মম আরাধনায় রচে যাই সাধনায়, মুহূর্তকাল।

Love at First Sight in Sonnet Form
Yesterday, we talked about how Romeo and Juliet begins with a Prologue in sonnet form .  It’s not the only time Shakespeare uses the sonnet format in the play. He uses it again with the Chorus at the beginning of Act Two, but before that, and even more importantly, he has the titular characters speak their first lines to each other in that particular rhyme scheme:

ROMEO
If I profane with my unworthiest hand
This holy shrine, the gentle sin is this:
My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand
To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.

JULIET
Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much,
Which mannerly devotion shows in this;
For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss.

ROMEO
Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?

JULIET
Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer.

ROMEO
O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do;
They pray, grant thou, lest faith turn to despair.

JULIET
Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake.

ROMEO
Then move not, while my prayer's effect I take.
