ঐ অধিকতর থামেনা কখনো
শুধু চলতেই সে জানে;
পাওয়ার আশায় ছুটতে থাকে
মানা কভু নাহি মানে।

পর্যাপ্ত সে থমকে দাঁড়ায়
শান্তির খোঁজ করে;
অধিকতরও পাওয়ার আশার
ধার নাহি আর ধারে।

ওই পর্যাপ্ত সে পরিতৃপ্ত
তৃপ্তির হাসি ফোটে;
অধিকতরও পাওয়ার আশায়
বুকেতে কন্টক জোটে।

অধিকতর ঘুমাতে পারে না
কানে ফিসফিস কথা কয়;
পর্যাপ্ত ওই মনের আনন্দে
রাতে বড় নিশ্চিন্তে ঘুমায়।

More and Enough"

“More” never halts, it only runs,
Chasing gains beneath the suns;
Knows not rest, nor heed nor stay,
Rushes forth, come what may.

“Enough” stands still with peaceful grace,
Seeks not more, but calm embrace;
“More” still yearns, defies the shore,
Knows no bounds—wants even more.

A smiling face “Enough” may wear,
Fulfilled with joy, content and care;
While “More,” in thirst, with thorny chest,
Finds no peace, no quiet rest.

“More” can’t sleep, whispers haunt the night,
Echoes stir in dim twilight;
But “Enough” with tranquil mind,
Sleeps in peace, all worries behind.
