যুদ্ধের কালে মৃত্যু হয় মানুষের রাতারাতি,
গুলিগুলা-বোমাবারুদে তাড়াতাড়ি,
চারিদিকে সৈনিকের বাড়াবাড়ি,
জীবনের প্রান্তরে অস্ত্রের কাড়াকাড়ি;
যুদ্ধের কালে মৃত্যু হয় মানুষের ফিরে ফিরে,
বঞ্চনায়, পরোক্ষে ধীরে ধীরে,
যন্ত্রণায় কাতরায় মানুষ বারে বারে,
আর্ত চিৎকারে নিঃশ্বেষিত হয় জীবন অকাতরে।
যুদ্ধের কালে মৃত্যু হয় ত্রাতার,
মৃত্যু হয় সত্যের, মৃত্যু হয় মানবতার,
মৃত্যু হয় সৈনিকের, মৃত্যু হয় সভ্যতার;
মৃত্যু হয়না রক্তহীন ফিলিস্তিনি সত্ত্বার,
মৃত্যু হয়না শক্তিহীন সিরিয়ার আত্নার,
মৃত্যু হয়না ঐক্যহীন ইরাকের প্রেতাত্নার,
মৃত্যু হয়না দীপ্তিহীন আফগান সভ্যতার,
কেননা ওরা মানুষ নয় মানুষের অবতার।।
At the time of war
At the time of war, speedily people die,
Dies quickly with firing of bullet, bomb & missile;
The soldiers' excess all around rife,
Arms race in the wilderness of life;
At the time of war, People die gradually,
Due to deprivation, indirectly, slowly,
People groan in pain again and again,
Life patiently exhausted by the screams bargain.
The saviour dies during war in satiety,
Dies the truth, Dies the humanity,
Dies the soldier, Dies civilisations' dignity;
At the time of war,
Death does not kill bloodless Palestinians,
Does not kill the souls of powerless Syrians,
Does not kill the ghost of fragmented Iraqis,
Does not kill the genie of illuminated Afghans,
Because they are not human beings but incarnations!
