মেধাহীনরা ধরে আছে মেধার ঢাল,
মেধার জগতে লেগেছে দীর্ঘ আকাল;
নীতিহীনরা চালছে নীতির প্যাঁচাল,
দুর্নীতিবাজরা ধরে আছে জাতির ত্রিকাল।
অসৎরা ধরেছে সততার হাল,
সততা ডুবে গেছে সমদ্রে বমাল,
অভদ্ররা উচ্চারে সন্ধ্যা-সকাল,
ভদ্রতার জগতে এসেছে বিকাল।
মেধাবীরা এসো এগিয়ে, জালো মেধার মশাল
নীতিবানরা দাও হাত বাড়িয়ে, ধরো সুনীতির পাল
সৎরা দেখাও দুহাত নাড়িয়ে, ধরো পতাকা অম্লান
ভদ্ররা বলো দাঁড়িয়ে, জালো ভদ্রতার মশাল।
নাহলে অন্ধকারে হারাবে, ভোরের জ্যোৎস্না সকাল
অ-কবিরা লিখতেই থাকবে সকাল বিকাল
নূতন আলোয় বদলে দাও, তোমার আগত সকাল,
অতিথি এসেছে দুয়ারে, এসেছে দুই হাজার বাইশ সাল।।
Hold the torch of modesty
The Incompetents are holding the shield of Merit,
There is a long famine in the world of Talent;
The Immorals are running the policy Tacit,
Corrupts are holding the nation for long Torrent.
Dishonests have taken the helm of morality,
Righteousness have been drowned in the sea,
Indecents are talking incessantly
Rituality of politeness has plunged in the glee.
O'Meritorious, come forward, hold the torch of Efficiency
O'Virtuous, raise your hands, hold the sails of Morality
O'Honest wave your hands, hold the flag Honesty
O'Gentlemen standing there, hold the torch of Modesty.
Otherwise, you will be lost in the darkness, No light in the morning,
Non-poets will be writing continuously, Defeat in the evening
