আয়নায় অভ্যাগত প্রাণ, নিশীথ আঁচড়,
স্বাগত নূতন আচার, বহে বিশ্ব চরাচর
ভাবনায় জাগিছে মনন, দিগন্তে ধূসর,
থমকে দাঁড়িয়ে ভাবছি, কোথায় সুধাকর
দেশে দেশে অধুনা এসেছে এক আধুনিক ঈশ্বর,
পরিবর্তিত বিবেক এক নর দাসী স্বভাবী কিংকর
ক্লান্তিতে নীরবে কাঁদছে বিচার, নিভৃতে নিঃস্বর,
বিচিত্র ন্যায়-নীতির চরিত্র পীতাম্বর,
নবরূপে উদিত ভালে, সত্য-মিথ্যার সূত্রধর।
সহসা অভিনব জগত হয়েছে ভাস্বর,
বদলে গেছে আচার-বিচার,
বদলে গেছে সততার সমাচার,
অর্থ-বিত্ত-ক্ষমতা হয়েছে নূতন ঈশ্বর
আকাশে বিমর্ষ রাগে নিয়ত জাগছে প্রভাকর
বোধোদয় চাই, এ জীবন অনন্ত নয়, মৃন্ময়, নশ্বর।।
NEW GOD
When I see myself in the mirror today
Welcome to the new world, I say
In my thought, I decay,
I find the horizon gray,
I stop and wonder, where the watchful moon lay
New God has appeared in the play,
Conscience became slave of the day,
Silently weeping as if eaten in the clay.
The character of justice have changed,
The nature of truth and falsehood altered,
The fancy world have mutated
The manners have transformed,
Money, Wealth & Power, the new God granted
Hue of honesty has defracted
The Sun still rising in the east sad, angry & fragmented
I want enlightenment, this life is not eternal, It's mortal, It's earthen.
