এটি নীল্লোহিত ফুলের কস্তুরীর গন্ধ সম্পর্কে
বছরের শেষ দিকে, অন্ধকার
আরও দূরে গাছের গান—
সে আমার অভিশাপ নিয়ে কোথায় উঠে যায়?

মোলোচ-
প্রথম দেবদূত স্বর্গ থেকে নির্বাসিত
তার মায়ের বিয়ের ব্যান্ড বাজানোর জন্য
মদের জন্য-
তুমিই কি প্রথমে বলোনি, দুঃখ ছিলনা
আমরা যতই কাঁদি না কেন সেটার কিছু যায় আসে না-
নাকি এটা শুম্যান ছিল…
তুমি বা হেইডনের শ্রোতারা যারা প্রথম হাহাকার করেছিল,
কষ্ট-
তোমার পছন্দের যেকোনো দরজা দিয়ে প্রবেশ করো
আর দড়ি না আসা পর্যন্ত ওখানেই থাক?

I can’t believe what the moon wrote
For the valley’s dying to find

About the musky scent of lilacs this
Late in the year, darkening
Further the songs of the trees—
Where does she get off upstaging me?

Moloch—
The first angel banished from Heaven
For hocking his mother’s wedding band
for booze—
Wasn’t it you who first said, Sorrow
Cares nothing for how long one weeps—
Or was it Schumann—
You or Haydn’s oboes who first moaned,
Suffering—
Enter it through any gate you choose
And stay there, until the strings come in?
